Three new paintings
17 October 2011, 13:44
Hello, possible readers! :)
I love painting and I find it fun. In the last month I finished three new paintings. I hope you'll like them as much as I loved doing them.
See you next time with more stuff! :)
I'm Marius, the guy who does everything with pixels. This is my blog in which you may read my artistic writings - in Romanian, find Work In Progress [WIPs] images and opinions about different aspects of today's trends. Have fun readin' it.
The entire site is chock-full of texts and images. If you do not enjoy reading, you may miss the purpose of these pages.

Greetings people ! :)
Here's a quick update with my latest works.
I've done three book covers, each different and special in its way. I hope you like them. I am now working on a new one for a friend, Michael Auerbach.
Since I got my Bamboo tablet I exercise painting on a daily basis and in December 2010, I decided to take the best ideas that stemmed from my silly painting exercises and to finalise them, so I can publish them. Here are my shy attempts in painting.
I also painted a Christmas greeting card which I missed posting here, because I was too busy painting the images I release in this post. I hope you guys like this one as well, even if it is late :).
And if all this wasn't enough, I also publishing a not so 3D image I made in 5 minutes, by mistake, in 2004, but I only finalised it yesterday. The initial image was a 3D render, but I worked on it so heavily in Photoshop that it is far from the initial one, just the basic forms and shapes are there. I also painted on it - to fix and "improve" details :).
Meanwhile, I worked more on various tiny projects, like designing site interfaces, coding in HTML and stuff for school. I am still aiming at finishing my new site in 2011.
Best regards to everyone and thanks for your time!

Salut!
It's autumn already, and I've been doing quite a few things during the summer. I learned CSS and HTML, yay! It was a piece of cake. I learned, because I already started work on my new site. I hope it will be finished by the end of the year. Coding of CSS/HTML and the design is finished already, but I am waiting for my twin brother to code the required functionality in JS and PHP, but he is really busy with the Mozilla internship.
Other than that, I made two new images. Actually the first is quite old, since summer 2009, but only now I completed it. It's called Love routine. I hope you like it.
The second image is a bit more weird. The creative process was more elaborate. I used Sketch and Toon for the initial image, then I post-processed it in Photoshop using various shadings rendered within Cinema 4D and even Vray. Then, I used the image as a texture map on a plane in a 3D virtual scene, in which I made the dark, muddy water as a photo-realistic rendition and I also placed a neon light behind the plane which had paper-like shading properties, so light could scatter through it. Afterwards, I got the photorealistic rendition of the paper and water back in Photoshop for more post-processing. Here's an illustration of what I am talking about:
Now, the final image is here: Failed sunset. The meaning of the image is for you to figure out.
I hope you enjoy these works. 'Till next time, all the best!

Hello, fellas and playas! ;)
It's mid-summer and it's also a very long time since I posted anything here. I am rather busy to post anything. I've been working on several book covers since my last blog post and, of course, on my big project: the piano room (for the latest wips check this forum post on the VrayforC4D forums). I've been unable to complete the final renders, due to crashes and very long render times, in early march, this year. A few days ago I resumed work on the project. I hope to get it done this year.
For more details about each book cover, please click on them. Here they are:
For the Faronir novel written by Michael Auerbach, I tried a different approach, which I hope was successful. Until now, I always had to do book covers on scientifical subjects, like artificial intelligence, robotics and mathematics. I never had to deal with literature. Being the first book of this kind, a science fiction novel, I wanted this cover to stand out in my gallery. I hope you find it great. A great amount of effort and time was put into getting the book cover right.
Besides book covers, I also did the logo and the new interface for the PaintWeb project of my twin brother. Some of the frequent visitors of our site already saw the new logo, but for those who did not, here it is:
I've also done other small projects, but I won't post them since they are unsignificant.
'Til next time, I wish y'all the best and have a nice summer. I hope to be posting more stuff during the year.

Hello!
I couldn't name the blog post "more posters", even if the title would have fit like a glove, because I have another post with this title ;).
What could be a better way to start the new year than with some messages related to environmental protection? :) Instead of waiting again for Saint Valentines day, I'm synchronising the release of these posters with the global warming :). So, I decided to make two posters on this matter. Both are well intended :). Hope you like them, and find 'em witty enough to tickle even the sharpest eyes.
I also made another Milk Inc related poster before last year ended. Perhaps I like Milk Inc. :). Anyways, it goes beyond that, like all the other posters based on their lyrics.
More stuff scheduled to come soon, and not just posters.

Hello!
I've done more posters these days. None yet for Christmas ;). I plan on doing one, some day, but I don't know when.
Two of the following posters are related to Milk Inc.
I hope you guys enjoy the holidays season and I wish you all a Happy New Year.

Salut, Chouvénie!
After pondering for awhile, I finally came up with a title for this blog post. It's always difficult for me to name my new blog posts, due to either repeating older blog posts titles or just no idea.
Now, it's almost Christmas and everyone (or not) enjoys the spirit of these holidays. Thus, believe it or not, I thought of doing some posters on the subject of Valentine's Day. A bit early, but no problem, aye :). The idea of doing a poster came into my mind suddenly, while chatting about design matters with a friend. My first poster was "I don't love you", because I already had the heart rendered, so, I just had to do the design in Photoshop. The idea is quite simple and frank, no shiny gloss or anything. You may use it to express your (non)feelings to your partner.
The second poster, still about Valentine's Day, it's harder to grok (understand), due to its colors and the "cryptic" messages contained in it. The poster illustrates narrow minded kids using the Internet. For further details click the images.
I also intend to do more posters, as I find it fun, easy 'n quick way to express ideas. Posters allow me to focus on a single subject and to use texts, which can be sharp :). The sketch illustrations were another fun way to express myself and perhaps, I'll do more.
With this occasion, I added a new section on the site: Marius > My Projects > Posters.
Soon, I'll publish a new interface and a new illustration I'm working on.
Note: I do not encourage behaviour expressed in any of these two posters, that is: rudeness or utter sillyness. These are made just for fun and satyre.
P.S. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Buenos dias!
Last week I've done two new book covers. The first one was for a book on artificial inteligence by Ioan Dziţac. I chose abstract imagery and I used a colour palette which suggests a high-tech world. Special thanks to Lucian Marin for the suggestions on typography.
The second book is about new paradigms in artificial inteligence authored by several people. For this one, I illustrated fuzzy logic in two ways. For the front I did something rather complex, strictly related to mathematics, but for the back I did something more "humane".
'Till next time, best wishes to you :). Oh, and... it's almost Christmas. I wish you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I doubt I'll post anything new until next year.

Coucou à tous!
I forgot to post last time my new works and I just mentioned the small tid bits behind the hood of maintaining a site. Yesterday, I realised I have quite many new works unpublished.
Three new logos: Fast Travel agency - late september. Webicina - early july, and the biology 2008 olympiad logo, in february.
I also decided to list the interfaces I did for our projects, Paint.Web and the SVG + Voice game tutorial (done in april 2007), in the interfaces category. This is just so you can have a better view of my works.
Next, in november I've done a few motion planning illustrations for my older brother and a fake diploma for fun - this one is published under the Scraps category.
I hope you guys like my new stuff.
I'm working on two new covers and, still on my 3D image, but currently I am on hold 'till I finish these two.
Auf wiedersehen, playas. :)

It's almost mid summer now and I haven't updated my site since spring. Since then, I've made a catalogue and a web site interface for the upcoming new site of CTCNVK.

Salut!
I continued working on illustrating more artistical texts I had. I decided to publish this new set, so here they are:
I hope you enjoy these new illustrations :).
Another idea which came into my mind was to create an e-book [a PDF file] with all my writings and the illustrations along side. So, now, those who understand Romanian, can download this PDF instead of surfing the blog to read my texts. I think this is "more manageable"/usable :). I've even designed a front and back cover. The title for this e-book is "Zgândurele".

Hello! It's spring time! Creativity in the wild :).
Several days before the
Valentine's Day,
somebody asked me to do a 3D heart having a red stripe wrapped
around it. Given that Valentine's Day was so close, I decided to
make my own version of the image. So, my idea was to create a
"culinary" one resembling a multitude of fresh tomatoes.
Weeks ago, I had an idea of doing sketch like illustrations for my
artistical writings. I've done already six sketches for my texts. I
am doing all these in 3D with Cinema
4D and Photoshop for
corrections or heavy editing. I created a new category in the "My
projects" section of my site for them. And, I also moved the image
"Romania
in E.U." to this new category as it fits, being done in the
same style. Having worked with the 3D heart for Valentine's, I had
a new idea for a funny (or sad) illustration: Love is a
burden, which shows an individual carrying a heart up the hill,
all alone :).
I hope you enjoy them. Thanks for reading and viewing the images. More will come! :)

The ROBO Design v5 web site interface uses elements found in "The Wind of Change" image, like flowers, plants and such. While working on the eye-candy factor of the v5 interface, I thought of creating some wallpapers with the same theme. The blue version was done for those who prefer this color.

To whom it may concern,
I've published a new logo on my site. Check it out under My Work > Logos > ScienceRoll. I made this logo for Bertalan Mesko, a student in medicine from Hungary. Along with it, I made a new header image for his ScienceRoll blog site.
Yours truly, Marius :).
